That excellent economics writer Alan Reynolds takes aim at misleading government income statistics here. His point is that the allegations made by the likes of Paul Krugman that workers are suffering because incomes aren’t rising the way they should are baseless.

This is a good time for me to bring up a pet peeve — government statistics. All of ’em. They are of little or no use for any purpose other than for leftists to say, “See, the government needs to do something!” Let private parties pay for the accumulation of data if they think they need it.
