Mark Binker reports on Sen. Phil Berger’s perennial budget complaint: it’s a closed process so he doesn’t know what’s in the budget (and not just the mystery taxes that nobody knows) when he votes. But Binker includes the following:

?What the Republicans would have to do is somehow get public opinion on their side,? she [Mileah Kromer, assistant director of the Elon University Poll] said. For example, she said, the GOP would have to offer an alternative to the budget crafted by Democrats and convince voters their ideas are better.

House Republicans still have time to draft an alternative. And serendipitously, we have one available. The Back to Basics budget received the Libertarian Party’s endorsement way back on March 18.

Nothing from the NCGOP. The silence reminds me of this story via Jonah Goldberg:

Former Illinois Rep. Robert Michel, who would himself hold the position of minority leader, told GOP freshmen in the 1970s: ?Every day I wake up and look in the mirror and say to myself, ?Today, you?re going to be a loser.?? He continued: ?And after you?re here a while, you?ll start to feel the same way. But don?t let it bother you. You?ll get used to it.?

Have NC Republicans gotten used to it?
