Live from the Legislature

The afternoon session of the Finance Committee lasted just about an hour. Amendments were proposed to eliminate the temporary sales tax in the last quarter of the biennium and to expand the title. Both were defeated along party lines.

Julia Howard wanted to provide full Medicaid relief for counties, but her amendment was ruled out of order.

After a testy debate over whether the process is in fact open and fair for all members, the Bill passed out of the Finance Committee by a 17 to 13 vote along party lines.

The Bill will go to the full Appropriations Committee, next.
