Now that a majority of Americans seem to believe in government as the go-to answer for whatever ails us, thank goodness there are still some people who understand that a truly caring society is one in which individuals step up to help others, rather than sit back and expect government to be the solution.

For the second year in a row, valuable jewelry was found in The Salvation Army kettle at the K&W Cafeteria on East Hanes Mill Road in Winston-Salem with a note wrapped around it reading: “This is real. In loving memory of Benny and Phyllis.”
