There is another of those cases where a prof wants to use his classroom for discussion of his theory that the 9/11 terrorist attacks were actually the work of the government. This one is in New Hampshire and Inside Higher Ed has the story here.
Granite state politicians are very upset over this attack on the sensibilities of Americans and naturally the academic left is again making this out to be an issue of academic freedom.
I think it’s just a matter of contract. The prof has a contract to teach a course, not a talk radio gig where he gets to spout off on whatever happens to have his attention that day. If a prof wants to air his opinions about the government and its policies, he should be perfectly free to do so — on his own time.
