From Barack Obama’s speech last night:
I believe in the free market. I know Texans believe in entrepreneurship. We are an independent and a self-reliant people. We don’t believe in government doing what we can do for ourselves.
Oh, you know it’s coming. This isn’t a libertarian speaking. This isn’t a free-market economist speaking. The very next word:
BUT
Obama goes on to describing a mix of tax increases, anti-free-trade policies, wage controls, expanding entitlement programs, new regulations, ad nauseam ? a vomitous effluence of statist policies delivered with a smiley face and rhetoric vapid enough to impress John Edwards.
No wonder he’s winning the Democrat nomination: He combines the statist ambitions of Hillary Clinton with the color-by-numbers pablum of John Edwards.
