At least, that’s the opinion of this letter writer of Edward Gore Sr.’s gift to NC State. That and Gore wants to “dictate academic policy” there, too ? according to the Duke doctoral student in environmental studies.

According to The News & Observer, Gore, a “coastal developer has donated two oceanfront lots worth an estimated $4 million.” Proceeds of the sale of the lots “will go toward scholarship programs for students in Brunswick County and nationwide, and for environmental research on the coast.”

The paper also reports that “Gore’s goal is to merge economics into environmental education, a factor he thinks is absent in today’s rules.”

Reportedly, select UNC faculty members will hold a candlelight vigil this evening in tribute to all their colleagues at NC State who now have to worry about teaching “with Edward Gore Sr. in the classroom.”
