The Appalachian Institution, a ?summer camp for adults? that teaches about the history of freedom and Western Civilization, will host its second year of programs this spring and summer. Last year?s sessions focused on the Enlightenment and the history and lessons of the West.
Schedule for 2009:
- May 17-21: The American Ascendancy (Dr. Michael Hunt, UNC-CH)
- August 3-7: The Noble, the Good, and the Free: Western Ideals of Ethical Life (Dr. Michael Allen Gillespie, Duke University)
- August 9-13: Islam and the West (Dr. Max L. Gross, formerly Dean of the School of Intelligence Studies the National Defense Intelligence College)
- August 24-28: The Founding Fathers: What Were They Thinking? (Dr. Michael P. Zuckert, Notre Dame University)
