In its latest batch of opinions, the N.C. Court of Appeals:

  • ruled against the N.C. Department of Transportation in a dispute over just compensation linked to a convenience store and a road widening project in Haywood County. 
  • ruled against the DOT in another road-widening dispute with a Durham County property owner.
  • ruled in favor of N.C. State University in a dispute with a worker over a 10-year-old on-the-job injury.
  • ruled against Kill Devil Hills in a dispute with the N.C. Utilities Commission about siting of an overhead electric transmission line.
  • ruled against Topsail Beach in a dispute over attorney’s fees linked to an abandoned condemnation proceeding against 14 property owners.
