The North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) lists just eight counties with sales or transfer tax votes on the ballot November 4. Locke Foundation calls to county boards of elections, however, have found at least six more counties that will ask for the right to raise taxes. These include Person and Onslow.

UPDATE: Tim McGee from NCACC said, “We have updated our Web site to reflect these changes. You can check the link below for the updated list…. That these seven counties were not listed on our Web site is not any kind of indication of an attempt to conceal the referenda from the public, either on our part or the part of the individual counties concerned. In fact, our research has shown that the more people who are made aware of these referenda improves the chances the referenda will pass, so it would make no sense to try to conceal this information from the public.”
