For your reading enjoyment, links to two Associated Press descriptions — tour guides really — of Charlotte:

• “DNC host Charlotte is city founded in controversy” — which starts out talking about the (in)famous Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence.

• “Five free, nonpolitical things to do in Charlotte” — If you’d guess which five things the AP came up with, I’d be quite impressed. OK, I’ll give one you one: Looking at the big houses on Queens Road West. Of course, that’s a dangerous suggestion, as visitors would likely end up at the intersection of Queens Road and Queens Road West, become completely confused, and end up missing the DNC entirely as they go around in an infinite loop. Am somewhat surprised that there aren’t security restrictions set up during the DNC to prevent just this possibility.
