Somebody in the student affairs department at Winston-Salem State University sent emails to 6,400 students and employees urging them to vote early in support of the Democrats, according to the Winston-Salem Journal. After the Republicans (led by Nathan Tabor) complained, the school retracted the message and sent out one urging the recipients to work for the Republicans as well.

The school is looking into who sent the original illegal email and whether it was sent “intentionally or accidentally.” Given that this is a taxpayer-supported institution, shouldn’t somebody be losing their job over this?  Or at least get suspended for a significant period? Or possibly ticketed or arrested? Chances are, this being the UNC system, any punishment will be limited to a stern talking-to,” with a wink, giggle, and high-five on the side.
