This time of year is when the Bears, pronounced BARS in WNC, start
to become active and move around after their long winter nap.
According to this article in the Citizen-Times:
Some people even feed bears intentionally because they want to take
pictures, enjoy watching them or think the bears are hungry and need to
be fed. The bears are more than willing to take advantage of easy food
sources.
I agree with that statement, you can just see for yourself! A Black Bear breaking in a car on top of Clingmans Dome in the summer of 1999.
