Automotive News (registration required) is reporting that the Big Three will be stuck with higher CAFE standards.
“The issue is over,” Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., told the CEOs of the Detroit 3. “You have lost the issue.”
Dorgan’s remark came at the end of what was supposed to have been a feel-good session on manufacturing issues by Senate Democrats.
Coincidentally, AEI’s Ken Green told a JLF lunch today that a carbon tax is the only way to stop fuel efficiency requirements, cap-and-trade emission regulations, and other really bad ideas.
