Bill Clinton’s Big Book will contain a lot of words, but will no doubt completely avoid certain topics. One of them, Linda Chavez notes here is his association with lowlife union bosses.

Chavez is right on the mark here. Big Labor and the Democratic Party are joined at the hip. Without all the legal privileges and immunities that have been given to unions (overwhelmingly due to the efforts of Democrats), organized labor would have to rely on voluntary membership and contributions, making them subject to the test of the market as are all other non-governmental institutions. Perish the thought. And without all the money and manpower they get from Big Labor, the Democrats would find it much harder to compete electorally.

I wonder if Clinton will acknowledge that his 1992 primary campaign would certainly have died after the New Hampshire primary if it hadn’t been for the endorsements and backing he received from several big government employee unions. They threw themselves behind Clinton at a time, right after the Gennifer Flowers and draft-dodging stories broke, when his campaign was about to sink beneath the waves.
