Bob Lee Swagger plays the great Durham “What If” game

That being, of course, “WHAT IF it had been a team of BLACK athletes and a WHITE ‘college (honor) student and single mother of two’?” With such a setup, the comedy has to be good, and it is. (Except there’s no spoof of “Bunny Hole Entertainment” ? but then again, sometimes a humorist will avoid the obvious joke because there’s no art in making it).

LR readers will recall weeks ago that this site anticipated the “What If” game after reading the race-baiting rhetoric from Duke’s irresponsible socialists ? specifically, Tim Tyson’s “Brain Done Leave My Head” comments in the N&O that “Young white men of privilege deployed their unearned affluence to hire black women to provide live pornography” since, of course, “[t]his is only partly a free market, where people choose to buy and sell themselves” meaning it’s “also a slave market, where an enduring racial caste system placed those women in a vulnerable position”:

You realize, of course, that if black football players at Duke had raped a white stripper, this guy and people who think like him would still be taking this approach. Only then they’d be blaming America for a “string of broken promises” for causing their “black rage” or making some other silly stab to turn the outrage over a horrible crime into outrage against free-market capitalism and what Reagan and Lincoln called “this, the last, best hope of man on earth.”
