Not that many in or around Charlotte seem to care, but House Speaker Jim Black (D-Matthews) still has his $5 million slush fund at the N.C. Department of Transportation. Black dipped into it to pay for the paving of Sharpe Road in Mint Hill, internal DOT documents indicate.
Maybe you might’ve wanted to spend that $88,000 on some other road need in Mecklenburg? Too bad, Boss Black has spoken. He knows best. Silly taxpayer, why else do you think this is all done in secret?
