The N&R’s Doug Clark has given me a brilliant idea: Truth and Reconciliation Night at First Horizon Park. Fans can gather to discuss Nov. 3, 1979 and its aftermath then enjoy a Greensboro Grasshoppers game.

Meanwhile, N&R guest columnist Adam Eaglin says the Klan-Nazi shootings should be required learning in Guilford County Schools:

If we, as a city and county, expect to raise children with a genuine engagement with the community, they need to know their history — the good and the bad. At the very least, the commission has provided a needed forum to talk about our past.

But this even is about more than remembering one day in history. By excluding the topic from our schools, we also institutionalize ignorance about the entrenched racism and harmful sentiments that Nov. 3 revealed.
