Buncombe County has received $60,000 in emergency federal funding that should help the growing number of families having a hard time paying their utility bills.

The $60,000 “doesn’t sound like much, but it will be a tremendous boost, supplementing what community agencies are having to tap into, and keep them from running out,” said Tim Rhodes, program manager for the Buncombe County Department of Social Services.
