Because of a surfeit of lawyers, looks like we couldn’t have a revolution in this country if we needed one. You can’t even have a tea party protest in Allentown, Pa., without shelling out big bucks to local Democratic party hack bureaucrats:
Local organizer Kim Schmidtner tells QCD that the Queen City was too difficult to work with what with all its demands for $1 million in liability insurance and the cost of paying for police coverage. …
So the protestors, who were looking at Cedar Beach, decided to just skip Allentown, Schmidtner said. City spokesman Mike Moore said he could not find anyone who had talked to Schmidtner, but he said all groups planning any type of park event are required to get $1 million in liability insurance that covers the city and to submit its request three months in advance. If they need police coverage to close streets for a parade, they have to pay for it.
This reminds me of the old saw that the March Revolution of 1848 in Germany failed because the German revolutionaries obeyed the “Don’t Walk on the Grass” signs.
