You might be surprised to learn of an American Enterprise Institute scholar who supports a new carbon tax to deal with global climate change issues.

Today’s Shaftesbury Society discussion at the John Locke Foundation featured remarks from that carbon tax advocate: Ken Green. He believes the federal government is bound to take action to deal with climate change, regardless of whether action is warranted.

If the federal government must act, Green contends a carbon tax is vastly superior to cap-and-trade proposals.

You can also hear Green, attorney Jeff Clark, and Utilities Commission senior staff attorney Sam Watson discuss renewable energy issues during a Federalist Society event this evening. The reception starts at 6 p.m. at the Cardinal Club in downtown Raleigh.
