I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised, but one member of the Cary Town Council voted “no” to renaming the town’s infamous “community” tree what it is: the “Christmas” tree. According to the News & Observer, councilwoman Julie Robison cast the lone “no” vote. I’d love to know why a festively decorated tree that’s displayed at Christmas shouldn’t be called a Christmas tree. You may recall that Cary’s “community” tree made national news and was included on the Catholic League’s list of “craziest Christmas stories” of 2009.
