This is funny.

WBTV details how some hipsters’ bar crawl got detoured when the South Blvd. line did not take them directly from Uptown to their carpark. The last train out of town does not go all the way out to 485. Not even close. It puts in for the night at Woodlawn, a half-dozen stops short of the end of the line. This was a shock to those expecting rides further out.

Better still, CATS’ idea of a work around is buses to get train riders kinda close to the train stations, not all the way to the them. Now if these folks wanted to ride buses to and from Uptown at 1am, the $500 million train is real waste. Of course they don’t want to ride a bus, so of course they are mad at CATS.

But guess what? Every light or heavy rail subway I know of operates this way at some point. Cars go out of service at the service yard and dump passengers out there. Think about it, the trains are not going to run out to the end of the line and then ride back empty.

This thing is just endlessly fascinating to me. It is not a mode of transportation, it is a party train. Or at least that is how some folks see it. Something tells me the party will end.
