hhJack Betts alerts me to the city of Charlotte’s official “stimulus” request to the federal government. Just $422 million.

Words fail me.

No one in their right mind would possibly put together such a package. No adult, anyway. As we documented the other day, 2008’s bailout expectations have totally outstripped the New Deal model. Charlotte’s massive New Deal project of the 30s — Memorial Stadium — cost all of $2m. in 2008 dollars.

We are in some weird free money phase, brought on ironically enough, by the end of nearly free money supported temporarily by permissive, fraudulent banking.

Only Santa can save us now. Santa? Is that you?
