At their last meeting, Asheville City Council requested information on the accomplishments of the Transportation Demand Management program. Published in a staff report is the factoid that atmospheric NOx has been reduced by 7.55170944 tons. That means these people have equipment capable of measuring atmospheric particles released in an entire city over a period of five years to the nearest ten milligrams (or ten trillion molecules).

Vehicle miles traveled was measured to the nearest mile (although it was probably rounded off for simplicity in presentation). No parameterization of the variable (e.g., by government employees on government business or by everybody), was provided. No comments on whether the reductions are absolute or with respect to a dynamic projection of growth were provided, either.
