Free lunches and breakfast are going to be made available to children again this summer. Word on the street is there were problems connecting the food with the kids last year. Somebody suggested handing out food at public pools. Pool access, however, is not free, not even for special needs people. Free lunches are also available for kids participating in programs at the YMCA. At least some meals are being provided at churches, community centers, and public housing developments.

I’m assuming you already asked a few questions; one of which is, with 20 percent of Americans on food stamps, 55 percent of Buncombe County children in need of school lunches, and a perhaps puritanical notion that people should buy food before electronics gadgets and fashion wear; how bad would we be if we weren’t in an economic recovery? That’s a riddle, and the answer is, we’d be giving 110%, but it’s not funny.
