Lucky me, I happen to live up the street from a house owned by notorious Greensboro slumlord Bill Agapion. (We’re not immune even here in tony Fisher Park.) The house has been dilapidated and abandoned for a good five years, with construction crews been showing up, working for a couple of days, then disappearing for weeks.
But they’ve been working on it steadily for a month now, and it looks like they’ve finally got the place finished, complete with a nice bright white porch rail. Miracles happen at this time of year.
On a side note, I went into the belly of the beast —- Wal-Mart —- for a some last minute shopping. It was crowded, but everyone seemed to flow ell through the store. What I needed — a sewing machine (don’t ask) —- wasn’t on the shelf, so I asked if they had it in stock. They had one out in five minutes. Checkout line was quick, so the whole venture took about 40 minutes.
Merry Christmas.
