The N&R reports “for the most part,” Greensboro City Council members “liked what they heard” of the proposed Church Street “cultural mecca.” Council member Goldie Wells said she thought “we need to look at the plan and start implementing it.”

There’s one vote, and, as the Rhino’s John Hammer noted, fellow council member Dianne Bellamy-Small and Mayor Yvonne Johnson will fall right in line. Interesting that Hammer failed to mention that council member Robbie Perkins has chosen to align himself with that trio, so that’s four votes before there’s even a formal discussion of the plan.

In the middle of all this, I’d like remind everyone that we have $205 million in bonds on the November ballot, $50 million of which would go toward our Lee Street cultural anchor, War Memorial Auditorium.
