Give the Columbia Journalism Review kudos for at least pointing out that the mainstream media is giving Obama a pass on his distortion of John McCain’s “100 years” remarks, but give them brickbats for wondering why the media isn’t calling Obama on his distortions. Helloooo! THEY WANT OBAMA TO WIN!
In 1978 I was press secretary to a guy running for governor of Alabama and our opponent repeated a blatant falsehood at every campaign stop, which the media dutifully reported without pointing out the inaccuracy. I asked one of the state’s top political reporters why the media kept running this lie and his response was: “Well, he said it didn’t he, so the quote is accurate.”
By the way, it was no secret that our opponent was the media’s preferred candidate. We had the last laugh though. We won.
