The scandal that is giving cause for reconsideration of “green” efforts around the globe continues to develop rapidly. As reported in the Wall Street Journal, Phil Jones, head of the East Anglia University’s Climatic Research Unit and a key promoter of man-made global warming theories, has decided to step aside from the director’s post. As reported this week, several members of  the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have called on the Academy to rescind the Oscar ex-Vice President Al Gore received two years ago for the environmental movie “An Inconvenient Truth,” which has been widely discredited for numerous factual errors. In a sudden move that has angered his supporters, Gore canceled a speaking engagement scheduled for December 16th to more than 3,000 people and hosted by the Danish Berlingske Tidende newspaper group. Gore cited “unforeseen changes in his schedule” as the reason for the cancellation. The Cary Watchmen will continue to report on Climate-Gate since (a) this news is not being reported by the mainstream media, and (b) theories of man-made global warming serve as an important basis for most “green” efforts related to recycling, water conservation, carbon footprints, cap-and-trade, renewable energy (solar, wind, etc.) and “sustainability” programs that the Town of Cary is pursuing at great cost to taxpayers.
