Keep this handy for when the topic of jobs, taxes, economic impact — whatever — pops up:

State demographers say Wake’s population has hit 920,307 while Mecklenburg’s is 909,493.

But not so fast, says Tony Crumbley.

The Charlotte Chamber’s vice president for research says Mecklenburg had 963,363 residents on Jan. 1.

This means, for one, that with a state-tracked labor force of 462,756, more residents are out of the labor force than in it and that 414,832 jobs support almost one million residents.

Does the Rent Seekers Guild really think that a better message than admitting Wake’s government growth has attracted people and jobs during the last 24 months as Charlotte has shed both?
