I did not make the connection that CMUD honcho Doug Bean up and decided to retire ahead of the release of the report from the citizens task force investigating high CMUD bills. Now that task force has sped up its release date to try and get answers before Bean is gone March 1. Smart.

But CMUD customers who feel they’ve been ripped off are pushing the task force into a no-go zone, namely refunds. You watch, if the task force report mentions refunds in any way, shape, or form Charlotte city council will blast the group for exceeding its mandate to find out what is wrong with CMUD bills. Nevermind that refunds might logically have a place in fixing what is wrong.

This is all about money and CMUD’s need for it. Anything that even suggests a reversal of the cash flow is not welcome by the city.
