Organizers of last year’s John Coltrane International Jazz and Blues Festival have proposed repaying the outstanding $27,000 balance on City of High Point funding over a five-year period. That’s awful nice of them, considering the fact that the City Council “attached no conditions to its appropriation.”

You guessed it — organizers want a $50,000 grant for this year’s festival, to be held over Labor Day weekend. City Manager Strib Boynton has proposed $32,000.
