When naming the elements of traditional Southern conservatism, the word “Catholic” might not top your list.

But Douglas Minson, executive director of academic affairs for the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, says Catholic thought shares certain “affinities” with Southern conservatism. He discussed them today in a presentation for the N.C. History Project.
