Over at sister site The Locker Room comes a blog about the wasteful and ridiculous spending of $300,000 that you don’t want to miss, courtesy of Jay Schalin. The story comes from Western Carolina University and it’s not a joke. Here’s part of the press release from WCU, which quotes the researcher (emphasis is mine):

The new project will involve between 500 and 600 participants over the next three years, with half of them being involved at WCU and the other half at W&L. They will watch videos, listen to jokes, complete questionnaires and perform other tasks to help the researchers determine how exposure to sexist humor affects perceptions of women and discrimination against them, Ford said.

Don’t miss Jay Schalin’s suggestion for a much cheaper way to conduct this research.
