So much for the spin that taxpayers will actually benefit after Dell repays city and county economic incentives used to lure the company to Forsyth County.

Give Forsyth commissioners credit for pondering a tax rebate, but the city’s media partner, the Winston-Salem Journal, pronounces any such rebate “negligible.” You guessed it —- the Journal believes the city should “use the remainder of its share, about $2.5 million, on economic-development efforts such as creating a small-business development fund and marketing the Dell plant.” The county should fall in line and donate its share toward economic development, too.

All this, of course, after the city repays debt incurred for infrastructure costs related to Dell.
