When I looked into the creation of a new department after the Governor’s budget suggested it, I thought – how could they create a new department and not spend any more money?
Well I was right, bureaucracy is continuing to grow and cost the taxpayers more money. In the House budget (page 120), they specifically outline new positions and start-up costs for the new department.
- General Counsel – $109,809
- Accounting Director – $83,682
- Accounting Technician – $37,199
- Human Resources Specialist – $43,107
The start-up costs are $56,000 for the first year on a non-recurring basis.
In total, the new department has a budget of $7,368,298 for the first year and $7,312,298 for the second year of the biennium.
