They are talking about the relationship between development and water in Durham. Why aren’t we having similar discussions here?

We have to maintain the illusion that tax revenues will always go up so as not to call into question our reckless spending habits.

How out of touch are we? We are actually talking about giving the school board the power to tax, as if CMS could possibly be short on money. Madness.

Bonus Observation: All the give-us-the-tax talk coming from CMS sure sounds like a way to make a land transfer tax for the county — with proceeds informally earmarked for CMS — sound like a sane compromise. It is not.
