French forces have overwhelmed a domestic insurrection in the Ivory Coast that had targeted French soldiers and civilians. French jets devastated the enemy?s tiny air force and used helicopter gunships to hunt down and destroy mobs of machete-wielding thugs.

“If there are any whites in this neighborhood, we’re going to get … them,” one man shouted. “It’s better to kill the whites than steal their stuff,” another yelled.
Did Paris get Washington?s permission to act? I hope not, as no permission was necessary. There are 14,000 French civilians in this country, which used to be, for west Africa, a progressive society. Many thousands of people of other nationalities also live there. Tribal, Islamist, and criminal elements are all part of the mix.
