As we told you would happen, Great Wolf Resorts has come calling for taxpayer subsidies for its planned $100 million water park near Concord. Do tell.
Mouth-breathers in Cabarrus County are ready to give Great Wolf $2.7 million in incentives in exchange for 400 full and part time jobs. Basically Great Wolf would not have to pay property taxes for five years in exchange for the honor of locating next to Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
Wrong.
Take a look at this outfit’s balance sheet. They are in expand or die mode. Tell them you are more than willing to work with them to make a site in Cabarrus work for them, but that treating some taxpayers as a special class of citizen is right out.
Either they come back and pay their own way or you didn’t want their skeezy operation to begin with.
What is hard about that? Evidently quite a lot.
