Durham is a proudly left-wing town. It’s position on the leftward end of the political spectrum is probably third only to Chapel Hill and Carrboro in our state. Which is why it surprises me that two of the left’s most visible bêtes noires are coming here to make appearances.

Bill O’Reilly, whose “The O’Reilly Factor” is the top show on cable news, will be at the Durham Performing Arts Center on Feb. 3, and Adam Carolla, whose “The Adam Carolla Show” is the world’s most downloaded podcast, will be at the Carolina Theatre on Jan. 19, where gay film festivals and left-wing documentaries are the usual fare.

Carolla made a splash recently when he went on a hilarious rant about the Occupy Wall Street generation and the growth of envy in our society. The video is below (strong language warning):

Just wondering if the promoters of these two appearances did some homework on the universe of potential attendees in the area. I will be pleasantly surprised if these are sold out.
