In a surprise move, Rep. David Lewis (R-Harnett) introduced an amendment to House Bill 818 (a bill that would amend the practice of medicine laws) that would re-institute the requirement that medical doctors monitor executions.
The bill sponsor, Rules chair and ten or so Democrats quickly gathered around the Speaker’s podium. Hackney says the amendment has to be re-drafted and is temporarily set aside.
