Summer, I don’t know a Moby from an M&M, but I do know a Pete Seeger from a Bruce Springsteen. Speaking of which, a great piece in City Journal traces the politicization of music and musicians, citing unreconstructed Stalinist Seeger and his fifth column group The Weavers with starting the trend during the Popular Front years of the ’30s and ’40s, and moving right on up to “The Boss” himself.
