Not much to add to Richard Rubin’s look at how the rubes in Raleigh job Mecklenburg out of state highway money. In a constitutional republic these criminals would be in jail. In North Carolina, America’s banana republic, they continue to hold great power.
And let’s emphasize that when it came to getting money for bogus “attractions” like the Whitewater Center and the NASCAR Hall of Fame, somehow our local “leaders” could come up with cash. When it comes to things like — hmmmm, widening the bridge over McAlpine Creek on Hwy. 74, a traffic chokepoint for 25 years now in Charlotte — no can do. No money.
And a memo to Dan Clodfelter and Becky Carney, like Jim Black, apologists for the Down East Kleptocracy they serve: I WANT STATE HIGHWAY MONEY. I WANT IT ALL.
In fact, I want you to hit Marc Basnight on the head and take his wallet. I want every single penny from NC DOT to be spent in Mecklenburg County. Millions. Tens of millions. There. Enough with the insulting crap that local people do not “ask” for road money. We are done asking
