Here’s a quick Google of 143 places you can find news stories about David Hartgen’s latest study on traffic congestion.

None of them are The Charlotte Observer. Back in March, the Observer virtually alone among media outlets in North Carolina, ignored a previous Hartgen study on the growing congestion problem in North Carolina’s cities — Charlotte included.

And today, instead of even a wire service overview of Hartgen’s rankings of statewide road performance — say in place of a “story” on how to throw a business party — nothing. Nada. Zilch.

Even so, the word is still getting out. And local residents know they are sitting in traffic while millions in new revenue from new construction flood city and county coffers.

The truth has a way of bubbling to the top.

Update: As of 10:48am, the Uptown paper of record had this AP story up on the study.
