Glossed over the N&R’s write-up on Greensboro’s new minor league soccer franchise, Gate City FC.

While the N&R indeed mentions Gate City FC’s plan to eventually move out of Grimsley High School’s Jamieson Stadium and into a home of its own —possibly downtown — the Biz Journal’s write-up offers a few more details from team president Justin Cox:

Details about a permanent home for the team are still in the works, including a feasibility study that would determine what the budget for such a venue would be, Cox said. He’s talked with city officials about the possibility of a public-private partnership on the stadium, which could also host lacrosse contests and entertainment events, but no agreements have been reached, he said.

Cox also declined to say what sites were being considered.

Needless to say there’s a lot on the city’s plate right now —- Gate City FC will have to get line behind GPAC.

*Gratuitous name drop — Gate City FC is coached by my former UNCG classmate Brian Japp.
