Asheville City Schools’ Superintendent Robert Logan was appointed as the Associate Superintendent of Innovation and School Transformation at the Department of Public Instruction.

What does a superintendent of innovation and school transformation do? Chairman of the State Board of Education Howard Lee said, “State Superintendent June Atkinson and the I welcome Mr. Logan’s leadership and are excited about his work with the Department of Public Instruction and with the local schools across North Carolina. Innovation and school transformation are key activities at the Department as we strive to ensure that all schools are on track to provide a 21st century education to students.”

Ok, let’s compare that to the statement regarding the January appointment of J.B. Buxton as Deputy Superintendent of DPI. State Superintendent June Atkinson said, “We look forward to J.B.’s leadership in the operations of the Department of Public Instruction. His interests in innovation and change will be helpful in accomplishing the 21st century goals and objectives that have been adopted by the State Board of Education.”

Leadership. Innovation. 21st century. Got it.
