I think so. I think the NC GOP is stretching too far in trying to tie Democratic candidates for governor to Rev. Jeremiah Wright. They endorsed Barack Obama, not the Rev. Wright.

Is there still shock value in Wright damning America from his pulpit? I guess for those shut-ins without cable TV lo these many weeks. That’s not a big demographic, especially in financial terms as the NC GOP intends this ad to function chiefly as a fund-raising tool.

Now, I suppose that HRC could get the most immediate bump from this ad as it goes up this week, which is an interesting political bankshot. Working-class male Democrats — of the kind that turned out to support HRC in PA — might decide that one more clip of the Rev. is the last straw.

But I’d love to fast forward to the day after the general election to see if this particular investment in money and message pays off for state GOPers. I have serious doubts that it does.

Update: I see that Bob Orr agrees with me.

Update II: Michelle Malkin shills for Linda Daves. Small world.
