From Rasmussen comes another data point in the economic “recovery.” Unfortunately, the index is on a downward trend. Here’s Wednesday daily tracking:

Consumer confidence is down a point from a week ago, two points from a month ago and seven points from three months ago.

Combine this with Gallup’s latest on the underemployment rate — it stands at 17.3% today — and you’ve got misery, plain and simple. Just ask anyone who’s desperately looking for a job and can’t find one.
