Every day The News & Observer hits us over the head with global warming, its reporters and editors obviously accepting that man-made global warming is real. Take for example a story in which mere beach erosion, something that has been a problem for decades, becomes proof of global warming and rising sea levels. Further proof of The N&O‘s acceptance of the myth of global warming “consensus” is the name of the series of which this story is just one part: Global Warming Hits Home.

But is there really a consensus? And, if not, why is a newspaper taking the man-made global warming hysteria side of the debate before all the facts are in? Beats me, but they and most of the mainstream media have taken that bait. Ironically, in Sunday’s Q section in The N&O, if the editors would just read it, is proof of a lack of consensus on this issue: Pat Michaels’ op-ed column. This nod to “giving both sides” of the issue doesn’t disguise the fact that every other section of The N&O is wedded to the Chicken Little view of global warming. This is not unusual. Other media outlets also ignore those on the skeptical side of the debate while playing up the true believers.

I have some suggested reading for the editors and reporters of The N&O, the AP and all others who accept Al Gore’s notion that consensus exists on global warming. Try reading this segment of a fine series from Canada’s National Post. It’s called “They Call This A Consensus?” In fact, read the whole series.

They might also check in occasionally to environmentnc.com, the John Locke Foundation blog devoted solely to this issue.
